Pork and Napa Stew Recipe

I learned this simple, yet amazingly delicious pork and napa recipe from my sister. The ingredients are just pork, napa cabbage, sake, and salt. Just combine them together in a pot and and cook. Napa cabbage, which absorbed wonderful flavor of pork, melts in your mouth.

You can use thinly sliced pork, pork chop, block of pork, or any kind of pork you can get. Little fattier ones work better for this recipe.

It warms you up particularly cold winter day. Easy on your wallet, too.

  • 1/2 napa cabbage
  • 1/2 lb pork (fatty block or slice)
  • 1.5 cup sake
  • 1.5 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt

Wash napa and cut into 1" strips and stuff in a pot. Also cut the pork to 1" chunk if you have a block, and pile pork on top of the napa. Add sake, water, and salt in the pot, cover, and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes or until napa becomes soft and wilted.

If you use cooking sake, you may only need small amount of salt, if you use drinking sake, you may need more salt. Sample the soup once the pork is done, and adjust the amount of salt accordingly.
