Okra was originally eaten only limited area in Japan until after the WWII. It is also called okra in Japan.
Probably the most common method of eating okra in Japan is to simply boil them, chop, and mix with katsuobushi and soy sauce. Some people add mayonnaise in addition to soy sauce and katsuobushi. I love to eat them on rice. Grilled okra is also good, but it’s rarely stewed in Japan.
