Curry Rice

Curry rice is so easy to prepare and delicious that you can’t fail this. Curry is an Indian cuisine, but someone introduced this delicious food to Japan. Since then, Japanese modified it to suit milder Japanese palate, and now it’s one of the most popular Japanese food.

In addition to the vegetables and meats, you can add small amount of hidden ingredients to accent the flavor. People use ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, Parmesan Cheese, grated garlic, coconut milk, tomato paste, miso paste, and so on. This time, I added tamarind sauce leftover in my fridge.

Make a potful of curry at a time, and freeze leftover for later use. It tastes even better the next day and freezes very well, too. You can also make curry noodles using leftover curry.

There are wide varieties of Japanese curry sauce mix available in the United States, but here is a list of which brand is popular in Japan.
